If you’re anything like me, sometimes you can get caught up in the game of intuition development and lose sight of the big picture goals of the spiritual path.
Of course, focusing on developing your ability to communicate with the higher realms is a perfectly natural impulse if you’re a spiritual person. But it’s easy to get too focused on the small things – like how easily you can get into trance or sharpening your clairvoyance or manifestation – when the larger goals of the soul offer a much broader experience of well-being and a more wholistic understanding of what it is we’re doing here as souls incarnated in the physical realm.
Many in the spiritual community say that the ability to generate positive emotions in the heart is the key to mastering this life. Well, I have to agree with this, because I’ve seen it in my own spiritual unfolding and intuitive development. Mastery of your emotions is a huge key to achieving psychic coherence with the higher dimensions and the divine realm. Achieving “coherence” means feeling a fundamental state of peace. When you can entrain and align with this energy, you are dancing with the divine. Resonating with peace allows the intuitive or meditator to receive divine guidance, wisdom and healing.
The mystical experience isn’t just for saints and monks. It’s possible for all of us.
Here at the Diaries, I often refer to myself as a mystic. What I mean by that is that I cultivate in my spiritual life a direct connection to God. I personally contact divine presence through a daily practice of sacred meditation, but other mystics may achieve a connection with God through art-making, walking meditation or even dance. Everyone’s process is different, but I will focus mostly on meditation in this post since that is what I recommend to get started.
A mystic believes that it is possible to make direct contact with their higher power through inner seeking, and they pursue that connection in their spiritual life through the artful cultivation of their consciousness.
Is our “drive” really helping us in our meditation and spiritual practice, or is it just another hindrance?
Happy Winter Solstice, friends! I hope everyone is enjoying the beginnings of a cozy winter hibernation, despite the tulmut of public life these days. I thought I’d check in about the seeker’s path and how ambition actually holds us back in meditation.
If you’re anything like me, sometimes if you pay close enough attention you can feel a chord of ambition running throughout your meditation practice or spiritual life in general. It’s an interesting element to notice, because meditation and spiritual practices are more often about obtaining increased peace, inner stillness and transcending the incessant activity of the mundane mind. Often, spirituality is about our being-ness rather than our doing-ness. So, what place if any does ambition have in our spiritual life?

Who can resist telling ghost stories this time of year? For a lot of us, encountering strange phenomena in a spiritually active (a.ka. haunted) house was the first moment we really considered the possibility of the other side.
Here’s why I think ghost stories are so important. It’s because they are reminders that we have a soul. That there’s more to this life than science and materialism can explain.
Have you ever had an experience with a spirit in the house? For a lot of us, experiences with ghosts are the moments that clue us in to the possibility of the “other side.”
In this ghost story, I tell how I encountered a poltergeist in my ex-boyfriend’s house. This spirit messed with electricity in the room and opened and closed cabinets. They would rap on wooden furniture just to get a rise out of us. Spirits like this can often be mischievous and harrassing. But not all spirits are negative.
Our personal spiritual development unfolds in cycles. Most agree that just as there are ascending and descending phases cosmically that govern planetary consciousness, there are also light and shadow phases that catalyze an individual soul’s realization. At this point in my journey, I have a strong sense of my own light and shadow phases, so I thought I’d share with you what to look out for during both of these seasons and some navigation tips that will hopefully help you on the path.
How to use Earth-based spirituality to heal yourself and grow
Over the years, I’ve had many meditation experiences that I would describe as shamanic. Visions of inner shamans that were initiating me, or messages from my guides about shamanic practices that could heal me in specific ways.
I find the shamanic element so fruitful in my own journey, so I wanted to share some of those insights with you guys in case they will be helpful.
WHAT IS A SHAMAN?
I believe a shaman is a mediator between the world of spirit and the world of matter. Often a healer or a guide. Someone who goes into the spirit world in meditation time to help others, by finding out information or invoking healing.
As a mystic and healer, I make it my business to achieve optimum wellness in my life and assist others on their healing journeys. As a meditator, I have established a strong connection with my higher wisdom and inner guides who advise me on my daily actions and life path. Over the years, I’ve received lots of positive news and tips from my inner wisdom, but I’ve also received some messages regarding potential dangers to my bodily health and psychic system.
Since this blog is dedicated to sharing tips about how to advance consciousness through meditation, technologies that cause potential harm to our psychic wellness is relevant. Without being too alarmist, I’ll share some research I’ve found on the topic of how EMF and heavy metals effect our bodies.
